What are the fees for the buyer on Bikes & Bids?
Buyers pay a 4.5% buyer’s fee with a minimum of $250 and a maximum of $7,500, in addition to the final purchase price paid to the seller.
How do I register to bid?
Click the 'Sign In' icon, then 'Sign up here'. After verifying your email, enter your credit card info to complete registration.
How do I place a bid?
After registering, click 'Place Bid' on a listing and enter your amount. A credit card hold of 5% is placed during the auction.
How do bid increments work?
Bid increments vary: $100 to start, $100 up to $14,999, $250 up to $49,999, $500 up to $199,999, and $1,000 above $200,000.
During the Auction
Why is there a credit card hold when I bid?
To ensure the buyer's fee can be charged if you win. It's 4.5% of your bid.
How do I know if there’s a reserve price?
A ’No Reserve’ label will appear if there’s no reserve. Reserve prices aren’t disclosed.
Can I retract a bid if I change my mind?
On Bikes & Bids, every bid is a binding commitment to purchase, so buyers must complete all research and planning beforehand. If you win, the buyer’s fee is non-refundable even if you change your mind.
After the Auction
What if I didn’t win but still see a credit card hold?
Holds are released after the auction ends, but may take up to 7 business days.
How do I complete the transaction after winning?
Buyers and sellers can use Bikes & Bids Stripe® or handle it manually.
What if the reserve isn’t met?
If the reserve isn’t met, only the highest bidder may negotiate post-auction with the seller, making strong bidding during the auction the best way to secure the bike.
